The Regional Workshop on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Productivity in Southeast Asia and the Pacific was held in Bangkok, Thailand, coordinated jointly between CRDF Global and the International Joint Research Center on Food Security (IJC-FOODSEC). This event was part of and supported the Sustained Dialogue on Peaceful Uses (SDPU) initiative by focusing on expanding the discussion around access to nuclear science and technology as a development tool in agriculture. Participants engaged in discussions on topics including food safety, food security, nutrition, project financing, supply chains, and community engagement in a variety of formats with the aim of generating discussion on how the SDPU program can enhance existing work and enable new projects to establish and maintain equitable food systems in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Key stakeholders included the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Thailand Office of Atoms for Peace, ASEAN, government partners, and representatives from academia, development organizations, research institutions, and other sectors.

These discussions focused on United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG2 (Zero Hunger), with particular emphasis on Target 2.1, which focuses on ensuring equitable and consistent access to food, and Target 2.4, which focuses on boosting productivity and sustainability of food systems with care for and consideration of the environment. The discussions also support progress on related goals, including SDG11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG12 (Responsible Consumption), and SDG13 (Climate Action).
