On May 24, 2023, CRDF Global and the Center for Global Health and Development (CGHD) convened the Identifying Innovations in Nuclear Science and Technology for Women’s Health event in Geneva, Switzerland, alongside the 2023 World Health Assembly. This event, in support of the Sustained Dialogue on Peaceful Uses (SDPU), focused on innovations in nuclear science and technology that present opportunities to improve women’s health and economic empowerment. Participants engaged in discussions on topics including women led health enterprises and scaling access to healthcare for women in a variety of formats with the aim of connecting key stakeholders to innovators to brainstorm how these innovative technologies can be leveraged to maximize impact in the design and deployment of case studies. Key stakeholders included the Women’s Health and Empowerment Network (WHEN), U.S. National Cancer Institute, and representatives from healthcare leaders and policy makers, communities, innovators, the private sector, and investors.

These discussions focused on addressing UN Sustainable Development Goal SDG3 (Good Health and Well-being) with a particular focus on Target 3.4 focused on reducing mortality from non-communicable diseases like cancer and Target 3.c focused on increasing sustainable financing to health systems.  The discussions also supported progress on related goals including SDG5 (Gender Equality), SDG9 (Industry and Innovation), and SDG10 (Reduced Inequalities).
